Poor Polydeukes and Kastor.

Also, Antenor is the one talking about Odysseus and his words that are like snowflakes. Antenor, as far as I can tell so far, is equivalent to the Argives’ Nestor, or Charlemagne’s Naimon. He’s the random adviser dude that is close to the king.

Also, be prepared, I am working three jobs now and it is the end of the quarter AND I got pulled over yesterday and now have to spend extra time out of my life fixing my headlight and proving it to the proper authorities -_- which all adds up to meaning: I have no idea if I’ll have Wednesday’s post done in time. I have no backlog soooooo… We’ll see how the next couple of days go.

Oh, Paris. You ridiculous boy-child. You have no concept of how much death you will cause, truly.

There are a couple of reasons why I have made Menelaus the way he is, but definitely one of them is to highlight just how ridiculous Paris is.

Also, poor Hector. He does not deserve any of this. Nor does he deserve the weird hair and facial hair that I gave him, but life is not fair to Hector, so neither should his hair be.

I honestly do not know what the “shaggy heart” reference means. Maybe that he’s like a mule? Wild-hearted? Courageous? Who knows?

BTW: Myrine (sometimes spelled Myrina) was an Amazon Warrior. She supposedly fought Atlanteans back in the day. This is an important reference because of the tradition that later in the Trojan War Penthesilea, an Amazon, shows up and fights Achilles.

Also: bird omens were a big deal back then. Etruscans were mad good at reading bird signs, but apparently some Greek dudes were pretty good at it too.

AND now we are done with Book 3. Huzzah! Only 21 left to go! Sunday we shall start in on Book 4.

Agamemnon is such a moron. Really? You’re going to blame Zeus for all this? Because that’s so smart.

Also, I don’t know what happened to Nestor. He turned into, like, a Southern Pirate Who’s Pretending He Might Be Scottish? I’m not really sure?

Also, Menelaus really wants to be important, but he just isn’t.

ALSO, in other news, I am going to be upgrading so I will have room for pictures. Huzzah for having a retail job. ALSO, I got a new drawing pen, which was exciting.

Next time we learn random stories about random people that aren’t really necessary for the story.

Book 2, Part 2.1: Thersites Gets a Bad Rap

You can definitely see the #problemsofclass happening here. Thersites, we are told, is this ugly, misshapen, horrible person. And yet… He says something that is very similar to what Achilles said. He points out the problems of Agamemnon. However, because he is of a lower class he is not allowed to and, indeed, is punished for it. You could try to make the argument that Odysseus, by punishing Thersites himself, is saving him from a worse punishment by Agamemnon, and maybe this is true, but I’m not entirely convinced of it. I think it is more likely that class distinctions were a huge deal. Odysseus is the king of Ithaca, Achilles the king of Pthia, so they get to speak out against kings. Thersites? Not so much.

Poor guy. He never shows up again (as far as I’m aware) so we never really know what happens to him. He’s played his part to remind the audience that there is this hierarchy that exists between kings and commoners, a hierarchy that should not be messed with or shame will happen.

I am not sure if I will have a post up this Sunday because of room but… We shall see.

If you enjoy Odysseus and Homer re-tellings GUESS WHAT? There is a collection of short stories coming out 17 October 2017 called A Sea of Sorrow. I’m excited for it. Feel free to check it out. I know one of the authors, and she’s pretty awesome. She’s also written books about Helen that I highly recommend.

There you have it! The beginning of Book 2! I should be able to finish this one up in three parts, but it may take four. I’m still planning stuff out.

Also, Phoenix amuses me. He’s the one pretending to be an insect while Ideomeneus is just like, what?

On Wednesday we will return! There will be Odysseus whacking people with sticks and running around. Huzzah!

Book 1, Part 5.2: Hera Never Pries

Sometimes Zeus can be so adorable and then other times…

Although, I struggle with this part of the story because I can see both Hera and Zeus’ side of the story. Zeus is annoyed because Hera is trying to be involved in something that’s really none of her business and Hera is annoyed because Zeus is flirting with other woman and not treating her like an equal; Zeus is defensive because Hera is so aggressive, and Hera is aggressive because Zeus is so condescending… There is a lot going on there.

Anyway. There you go! The end of Book 1. Sunday we shall begin Book 2.

But I do have a problem. I am running out of my allotted image space on WordPress and I do not have money to upgrade. I only have 1-3 more posts before I will hit a brick wall of NOPE YOU CAN’T POST ANYMORE IMAGES so… 0_0 I have no idea what I’ll do this coming week, and now that I’m in full-swing of my two jobs I’m not sure when I’ll have the time to figure it out -_- ‘Tis a puzzlement. UGH, being part of the Working Class and being poor is STUPID. Ahem. Anyway. We’ll see what happens.

BUT, next Sunday we shall meet Dream and return to Agamemnon and Odysseus.
